Position Description:

The Human Resources Coordinator will support the day-to-day HR operations. Reporting to the Vice President Finance and Chief Financial Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing full cycle HR support to all levels of Cortex staff. 


  • Full cycle recruitment including:
    • Writing and posting job descriptions
    • Pre-screening resumes and conducting telephone interviews
    • Scheduling and conducting interviews
    • Conducting background and reference checks
    • Preparing offer packages
  • Managing the on-boarding process and conducting new employee orientations
  • Preparing the documentation for  internal transfers, role changes,  promotions and other employee related HR correspondence
  • Managing the Employee Performance Management Program and the Employee Performance Improvement Plan
  • Managing and expediting employee training and development programs
  • Developing, updating and maintaining company policies and ensuring they are legislatively compliant
  • Ensuring all policies are implemented and adhered to
  • Managing the termination and resignation  processes
  • Coaching, mentoring and providing support to leaders and employees regarding any concerns, issues or queries
  • Providing support for employee engagement surveys and other retention initiatives
  • Promoting and contributing to the company’s proactive and positive culture
  • Managing ad hoc HR projects
  • Maintaining the integrity of the employee database management system
  • Updating and maintaining employee files
  • Maintaining the company organizational chart
  • Updating and maintaining the HR network drive
  • Support HR analytics (reporting) and the creation of process documents

Education & Experience:

  • Post-secondary education with a degree in Business Administration or Commerce with a focus in Human Resources or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3 – 5 years progressive Human Resource experience
  • A CHRP designation is preferred
  • Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office including intermediate ability with Excel
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a proven ability and desire to develop strong working relationships
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to provide creative solutions to problems
  • Strong attention to detail with an emphasis on accuracy
  • A "self-starter" attitude with a visible, effective and productive work ethic
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in a dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated ability to exhibit discretion in handling highly confidential information
