Senior System and Cloud Administrator

Cortex Business Solutions, a leading technology solutions provider, is currently seeking a Senior System and Cloud Administrator to join their growing team.

Position Summary:

The Senior System and Cloud Administrator is responsible for executing and supporting all aspects of the Information Technology activities within Cortex. Primary responsibilities include administration and support of all infrastructure, leading the cloud integrations and migrations, and working with the DevOps team to execute on Infrastructure as Code initiatives. The Senior System and Cloud Administrator will report directly to the Manager, IT. 

What you will be doing:

    • Provide configuration, provision, maintenance, support and administration for all physical, virtual and cloud infrastructure including server and OS level support, networking and operational support in a multi-site environment
    • Monitor and manage the security and reliability of all networks, VPN and remote connections
    • Perform hands-on analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of all infrastructure related issues
    • Lead incident investigation, report and issue resolutions
    • Ensure all infrastructure is protected against vulnerabilities, malware and intrusions
    • Be part of an on call team to support technical deployments and/or issues
    • Lead and maintain ITGC and SOC 1 level tests and compliancy
    • Review and maintain information technology security policies, procedures and protocols
    • Ensure RPO and RTO objectives are met
    • Maintain server and data backups for all systems with cloud integrations
    • Support, execute and maintain Disaster Recovery and business continuity plan
    • POC for all IT lead projects and other business and product projects requiring IT services or resources
    • Conduct informational sessions or end user trainings on IT lead initiatives
    • Lead all cloud infrastructure initiatives including migrations and integrations plans; designing, building and maintaining a reliable and effective cloud infrastructure
    • Develop and maintain cloud governance framework based on best practices and industry standards
    • Develop, execute and improve operational practices and procedures, including those for managing backups, snapshots and cloud infrastructure
    • Work with the DevOps team to lead infrastructure as code implementations
    • Automate infrastructure and operational tasks where and when applicable

What you bring to the Team:

    • Post-secondary degree/diploma in an IT related discipline
    • 8+ years of system administration experience
    • 4+ years of cloud system administration experience
    • Hands-on experience working with VMware in an enterprise environment
    • High level of experience in Windows and UNIX/Linux servers
    • Strong foundation and understanding of network infrastructure and technology
    • Proficient in configuration and management of Active Directory domains
    • Experience in designing, implementing, migrating to a cloud platform such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
    • Working knowledge with Amazon Web Services such as EC2, EBS, S3, Lambda and API Gateway or equivalent in Azure or Google Cloud
    • Operational knowledge of automation and configuration management tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Puppet or Chef
    • Knowledge of continuous integration tools such as TeamCity, Jenkins or GitLab
    • Knowledge of container orchestrations such as Kubernetes or Docker
    • ITIL, Network+, Microsoft, Linux, AWS, Azure and/or Google Cloud certifications
    • Understanding of relational and NoSQL databases such as MS SQL, MariaDB, and MongoDB
    • Capable of writing proposals, procedures, policies, and technical documentation
    • Self-starter, critical thinker and problem solver
    • Experience in one or more scripting languages such as PowerShell or JavaScript
